My husband has advanced vascular dementia and is unable to mobilise himself, he requires 24 hour care, I am his sole carer (I am in my 80s) Memory Lane day centre have provided a little focus and fun for my husband for two days / week for two years, and in return I have the only respite available to me each week. I believe without Memory Lane Day Centre, my husband would probably have required regular home nurse care or may have been moved into a nursing home. The staff at Memory Lane Day Centre and kind, caring and my husband looks forward to going. I, as his wife, particularly like it when he participates in art and craft activities or when they have had a singer/act that my husband will try and recount when he returns home!

My mother Judy Carberry attends Memory Lane and recently I had the opportunity to visit her and saw her at Memory Lane. I was very impressed with the caring and positive attitude displayed by all there! Thankyou again for all you're doing for Mum and Dad!

My wife Val attends Memory Lane Day Center and enjoys the company and socialising. Val has Alzheimer's and I never thought she would settle but she comes home cheerful and having been busy all day she always has a little nap before tea and this gives me more time to prepare a meal. I use my time off to rest or visit my friends. I also find time for shopping and cleaning. People do not realise how difficult it is to look after someone with dementia and I am so grateful to have some free time thanks to Memory Lane. I just wish there were more places like this around Leeds. A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Memory Lane who find time to be so friendly, smiley and caring. Don't know what we would do without you.

I was reluctant at first to let my wife go somewhere that she didn't know anyone and felt very guilty about leaving her with strangers. But I had no need to worry - the staff there are lovely and they give Margaret lots of attention to her needs. They even managed to get Margaret knitting again which is nothing short of a miracle really. She loves the music and singing and although she has lost her ability to speak she does occasionally sing! From my own point of view I am so grateful that I get some time to myself - just to have a sleep with both eyes closed or to take a bath or work in my allotment and garden - all of which I can not do when I have Margaret at home - as she cannot be left alone.

I am writing this on behalf of Edward and Grace Walker my parents. In the short time that my dad has been attending Memory Lane day centre they have been very happy with the whole set up , they have had no problems. They think it is well organised and all the staff are excellent, friendly, pleasant and understanding. They work hard to provide different activities and it is just like home from home. It gives mam some me time. We are very satisfied and thankful for everything they do.

I am writing to express my gratitude for the way you and your lovely helpers have looked after my lovely husband Mike at the Day Centre over the past year. I know he has been very happy there and had a lot of fun, especially singing and dancing. The atmosphere is lovely - always so welcoming and cheerful. You should all be very proud of what you have achieved in providing care for people with dementia and giving us carers some much needed time off. I don't know how I would have carried on as long as I have without your help and care for both Mike and Me. Love from Pat

My wife and I moved to Otley in February 2017 with my wife having been diagnosed with dementia. Coping with downsizing the house and moving from Southport, plus the effect of dementia has brought on a degree of stress. Memory Lane has been a lifeline. Dorothy seems very happy there, and is now committed to two days per week. Long may it continue, and thanks to all those who care for her.

My wife suffers from vascular dementia and cannot be left alone for more than a couple of hours. She has been a regular at Memory Lane Activity Day Centre, Yeadon since it opened about 17 months ago & looks forward to going each week. The staff there are very helpful, friendly and professional with their care. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities provided are enjoyable and stimulating. The whole atmosphere gives the impression of a large family, where everyone knows each other and no one feels left out. From my point of view, it has been a godsend, providing a bit of respite from the day to day caring of a dementia-suffering person. I generally pick my wife up in the afternoon feeling refreshed and knowing that she has been in very safe hands. I would strongly recommend this centre to anyone suffering from dementia.
