Hello everyone!
For those who haven’t met me yet, I’d like to introduce myself as the new Activities Coordinator here at Memory Lane. I feel incredibly lucky to have joined such a wonderful community, and it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know our fantastic clients over the past few months.
One of the most rewarding parts of my role is planning and running a variety of activities and day trips that keep everyone stimulated, engaged and, most importantly, smiling. Seeing the enjoyment on our clients’ faces and watching friendships flourish through shared experiences is something that makes every day worthwhile.
As many of you will already know, music has quickly become one of our most popular activities and I couldn’t be happier! I have a real passion for singing and performing myself, so leading our music sessions feels like the perfect fit. Whether we’re enjoying a good sing-along, reminiscing over favourite songs or simply tapping our feet to familiar tunes, it’s amazing to see how music brings people together and creates so many special moments.
Alongside our musical afternoons, we’ve been keeping busy with a wonderful variety of activities including memory games, arts and crafts, baking sessions and plenty of opportunities for laughter and conversation.
We’ve already shared some fantastic highlights together. We celebrated the King’s Birthday in style by making our own crowns before enjoying a patriotic luncheon. We’ve also had some brilliant outings, including a delicious trip to the Golden Oldies Carvery, a fun-filled bingo and disco afternoon at Hawthorn Farm, and a memorable visit to the Leeds Playhouse to watch the wonderful production of Brassed Off. These days out have been a real joy and have created lasting memories for everyone involved.
There’s plenty more to look forward to! Our next big event is the Strawberry Tea on 15th August, which promises to be a wonderful day packed with music, singing, delicious food and stalls. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to come together, enjoy the celebrations and spend quality time with their loved ones.
I can’t wait to meet more of our clients’ families on the day, so if you’re coming along, please do come and say hello! I’m excited for everything that’s still to come and feel privileged to be part of such a caring, welcoming and vibrant community here at Memory Lane.
